I think I'm going to start a series of posts with the above title.LOL
The past two weeks...
I've been working on a homemade Christmas this year. My plan is to post where I find ideas and then my attempt at making it. I'm NOT very handy, but I enjoy trying to make things.
First, I found this tutorial and thought it'd be an easy place to start...

Really, it was the whole start to this madness.LOL
Here's my attempt at the bag...
I wanted to use something that we already had and no longer needed. Isaac had outgrown these pants, so I repurposed them into a neat new bag for him. I think he'll really like it.
My next attempt were these...
Felt Food! (it's an eggplant and egg, I guess I had egg on the brain.lol)
I may have found the idea here, but I'm not sure. Either way, this blog has some GREAT ideas for making homemade gifts. It was probably the next thing that made me decide for sure to attempt this...

My next project is this...
I got this here...

This dress used to be my oldest ds's FAVORITE shirt. He wore this all the time and was sad when he outgrew it. He was so happy to see it remade into something that will be worn by one of us.
The dress isn't quite done yet. I still need to hem the bottom and check the sides to make sure it isn't too wide. Sophia's not been well, so I've been winging it. (O.k., I've been trying it on Isaac.LOL He thinks it's overalls, like Max wears on Max and Ruby. Whatever works. ::snort::)
I'm also working on a ragrug and am repurposing as many old t-shirts I can find. Here's the tutorial for that and I'll post a photo once it's finished...

So, that's an update on my doings. I've been busy, but it's a good busy and I feel like I'm doing something to help our family through the holidays without just spending money on things. It feels good and I'm learning a TON.LOL
Blessings,

I'm impressed! When I try to make gifts it ends up costing me as much as buying....but you've really made some cute things with things that are around home.....Hmmm....
Wow. You've been BUSY! I saw the How Low Can You Go icon in your sidebar and it reminded me to ask how the food budget is going....
Some GREAT ideas here, Lisa! I've been thinking about making some gifts for Christmas. Maybe I'd better be thinking about getting to work on 'em. :)
That's the whole plan, De'Etta. I want to use what I have. It's been fun researching different projects! I just hope I can keep it up.
Cindy,
The budget is going o.k. My five week plan has made things much easier and we've had some very low budget weeks since I can stock up on things that we use each week. It's definitely saving me money. Thanks for asking!
Get started Donna! That way, you won't be rushed or stressed. I wish that I had started earlier but am happy that I've got some time before Christmas comes.
