Chore Rotation...

I've been working too hard. LOL In an effort to get more help around the house I created...
The Rotating Chore Board...

Our names will be moved each week on a rotation basis so that the older kids can learn different chores and meals. They are completely responsible for their meals. They have to post a menu and a grocery list by Sunday night so that it's ready for grocery day. I also gave the littles some chores since they did not want to be left off the board.LOL The chores listed are the ones we do almost everyday and they all take quite a bit of my time. I divided them up equally and we will rotate those each week also.

The calendar at the bottom left corner is Allison's goal for completing her math. She'd like to finish by November 1st and if she meets that goal, she'll get a CD. A photo of the CD cover is on the other side with a calendar printed over it so she can cross off the days as she completes her goal. Jon is also going to do a calendar goal for reading and will put it on the board later today.

Blessings,

Lisa

Great job, Lisa! Wow, you are getting organized. I finally figured out a family calendar that is working (actually stole the idea from De'Etta). Everything little thing helps so much. Let me know how this chore system works out.

I love how organized you are, Lisa! We are starting a new chore rotation too. We're going to try to have each child (the oldest 3) responsible for one area for a whole month instead of weekly like we had been doing. We'll see how that works.
I like your math and reading goal ideas! Is it okay to pilfer them? =)

Debbie,

Thanks! I'll let you know how this works for us. I needed something visual for us and I'm hoping this will be workable.

Robin,

I'm definitely a work in progress.LOL I may move to monthly after the kids have had a chance to learn more about each chore. Allison's not been as involved in the cooking before and I didn't want her overwhelmed and stuck in one place too long.lol

You are always welcome to use any ideas on my blog. I share well with others.LOL

What a nice visual reminder that you don't have to do it all. We used to rotate chores until the girls decided they really lik eto do the same thing each week. Fine with me as long as it gets done and they both know how to do everything.

WAY TO GO!

You're awesome! This looks great. I need to get myself better organized. I did a big Costco outing this morning and now have plenty of groceries (to last the week at least). I still haven't printed out schedules for the kids. Where did the summer go???

I like your chore board - great idea.

We do the rotating chores but I have scraps of paper on the fridge. I'll have to see if I could find a spot to hang another board....our family calendar is a big board that took the "obvious" spot....LOL I love the color coded cards. I do that with our calendar - but I ran out of sharpie colors. LOL

Cindy,

Thanks! It's really been helpful so far.

Kathy,

If you find summer, make it come back! Good job getting organized!

De'Etta,

You know that Sharpie has expanded it's colors right? We have the expansion pack and I don't think anyone could run out of colors now.LOL

I really wanted something that could easily change with our needs, that why I went with this board. Everything can be moved and the chores can even change with time. It works for me.LOL
