Happenings...

It's been a crazy summer! I can't believe that in a few short weeks, we'll be starting our new school year. I have a lot planned out so far. Everyone has a routine in place and the only wild hair is Sophia.LOL She's not quite ready for activities, but I'm finding some things that will keep her busy for small blocks of time. I think that God is working on flexibility with me this year. Also dependence on Him. I'm not going into this year with a set schedule, because that just won't work with all the different directions we'll have to run, but at least we'll have routines.LOL

Allison's job doesn't end until winter and only for a few months, so we'll need to make allowances for her schedule. Jon also has a job, but his is something that will be easier to work around us, instead of us working around it. We also have four activities to work around during the school year. PE, gymnastics, Bible study, and Jon's scouts. That will keep us busy four days a week with Friday off. I'm liking my Friday off.LOL Allison will be testing for her driver's license at the end of August and if she passes, it'll be a real blessing to share the driving with her. Prayers that she's ready by then would be great!

Here are a few photos of the past two weeks...

Well, that's it. Just keeping busy with the kids, trying to get everything hammered out before August 18. We'll be following the traditional school calendar this year since the older kids would like to be off when their friends are. We'll see how that works out. If they get behind, they'll be wishing they worked harder this summer.LOL

Blessings,

Congratulations on having some sort of plan already. I need to spend time on that in the next couple weeks. I'm not ready for summer to end, though!

Prayers said for Allison's driving test.

Woo Hoo Maybe another driver in the family, I bet that'll help a lot. Praying.

Cool lifeguard tan. I love the love/heimlech photo.

Good to hear from you! I'm telling you that the extra driver will become a LIFESAVER for you! It was so nice when our oldest got her license. Now we're on the countdown to when Emily gets hers in February!

I hear you about the crazy summer! I'm just now feeling a breather but already my August days are filling up. I just started planning out my new year & I have no clue when we'll be starting. I typically start in September, but I think I want a jumpstart this year. I guess I'll have to wait & see how it works out. :-)

Wow, Lisa, you have been busy. It is hard to work around the older kids schedule. Prayers for Allison's driving test.

Love all the photos. The kids look great. I have a "lifeguard" tan too from watching the kids around the pool. LOL

Allison has a wonderful tan! LOL

I'm glad to hear that things are settling into a routine. John must love having a little sister to applaud his accomplishments. I know Stacia is the biggest cheerleader of the big boys around here.

I feel like you do about summer.

Oh we love that experiment too!

I hope Sophia slots in better than you expect to the new schedue.

Our summer is just starting and I hope to keep it fairly simple this year. It's when I do most of my decorating, decluttering etc so I have to be home to actually do it!

Thanks everyone!

I do have a plan, I just hope that they will try to follow it.LOL

I'm really hoping that Allison gets that license soon. We can only pray.LOL

The lifeguard tan is really impressive IRL. Her nail polish has baked into her toenails and won't come off. ::snort::

Jon loves his siblings. It is so much fun watching them together. I can't wait until he's back home tomorrow.

That's great that you are going in within a set schedule, especially since you KNOW it won't work right now!

(What is Jon's job?)

I noticed Allison's tan as I scrolled down to the pic before I even read your "lifeguard tan" comment. I have a sad farmer/mom tan--tan spots: arms, a V at my neck, from mid calf down. If I ever get into the new bathing suit I bought this year, I'll look pretty funny!

Love Sophia's look as she watches Jon's experiment!

I was really hoping to get my kids started before Labor Day this year. It'd be our first time, so they are just NOT going for it. But I have a feeling that means we'll be working longer next summer too...
